Nine Montana records were broken during the state long course championships in Bozeman, hosted by the Bozeman Barracuda Swim Club, on July 26 to July 28.

The event showcased 267 of the top swimmers from around the state.

The new record holders as well as their clubs, events and times include: 17-year-old Catherine Russo (Bozeman Multisport Aquatics, 50 butterfly in 28.55 seconds), 12-year-old Winston Sundeen (Bozeman Barracudas, boys 50-meter butterfly in 31.22 seconds, 50 backstroke in 31.64 seconds, and 100 backstroke in 1:08.21), 12-year-old Daniel Apostol (Billings YMCA, boys 100 breaststroke in 1:16.58 and 200 breaststroke in 2:49.76), 12-year-old Brennen O’Neil (Billings Aquatic Club, boys 800 freestyle in 10:27.94), and 19-year-old Ethan Harder (Billings Aquatic Club, boys 50 butterfly in 26.25 seconds).

Bozeman’s 13 to 14-year-old 400 freestyle girls relay team of Cami Yovich, Julia Huffmaster, Ayla Osterloth and Annika Mittelsteadt also set a record in 4:19.82.
