Three Montana State players landed on the Hero Sports’ preseason FCS All-America Team, the outlet announced Thursday.

Junior Troy Andersen is a first team selection at athlete, senior offensive tackle Mitch Brott made the second team and running back Isaiah Ifanse was selected to the third team.

Andersen earned third team All-America and unanimous first team All-Big Sky honors as the Bobcats’ quarterback last season, but enters 2019 likely to split time between linebacker and running back. The athlete designation acknowledges a player’s ability to affect a team in a variety of ways. Last season, Andersen rushed for more yards (1,412) than any previous Big Sky quarterback.

Brott earned second team All-Big Sky honors last season. Ifanse was a Hero Sports freshman All-American and honorable mention All-Big Sky after becoming the first MSU freshman to rush for more than 1,000 yards.

Andersen and Brott each enter the 2019 season as team captains.

Bobcat Summer Classic set for June 14

MSU football’s summer tradition, the Bobcat Summer Classic softball game, returns to Bozeman’s Heroes Park on June 14.

The charity softball classic pits Bobcat football players, comprising the Big Hits and Sticks team, against Bozeman-area first responders, the Lights and Sirens, at 6 p.m. at Bozeman’s American Legion Field located in the Gallatin Valley Fairgrounds.

Concessions and a beer garden will be available. Admission is $5, and the event features a Bobcat jersey and helmet raffle.
