Montana State’s Ross Hanson celebrates with teammates after scoring the opening goal of MSU’s 6-2 road loss earlier this season against Dakota College at Bottineau, N.D.

Montana State’s original plans of taking a bus to the team’s first ever regional tournament were cancelled due to weather. When Allegiant found out the Bobcats needed help, the American airline that provides nonstop service from Bozeman to the Phoenix area wanted to help.

Thus, Allegiant provided free airfare and bags to the team so the Bobcats could make the trip with their gear, a spokesperson said.

The Bobcats will now gear up for their first ever American College Hockey Association Division 2 West Region Tournament appearance in Tempe, Ariz., starting Thursday with a chance at the national tournament on the line.

The Bobcats are coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 6-ranked Williston State last weekend at a neutral site in Glasgow.

“We played hard for the majority of the game. Unfortunately, we couldn’t put together a full 60 minutes, and they capitalized on our few lapses," MSU captain Luke Bing said. "Even though we ended up losing, we showed spurts of incredible play that if sustained for entire games could take us all the way.”
