I’m writing in support of Mark Egge for Bozeman City Commission. In my 18 years of tracking Bozeman’s growth trends – and the opportunities and challenges that come with growth – I’ve never submitted a letter in support of a city commission candidate. But I’ve been so impressed with Mark’s professional expertise and his work on our city’s planning board that I’m happy to be making an exception.

Bozeman is at a crucial point in its history, and the next city commission will be making critical decisions about our community’s future. There hasn’t been a more important time in the past two decades for smart, visionary, informed and experienced leadership. In Mark we are fortunate to have the right candidate at the right time. He does his homework, he listens to alternative views, and he’s especially effective at doing the hard work of finding practical, consensus solutions to our challenges.

In particular, Mark’s expertise as a transportation specialist makes him exceptionally qualified. Of the myriad challenges our community faces, transportation rises to the very top because it directly impacts our economic opportunity, our cost of living, our taxes, our environment, and, bottom line, our quality of life. We simply have to create a better, cheaper, smarter, more environmentally sensitive transportation system, and Mark is the candidate who can make it happen.

If you care about our community’s affordability, about making wise investments in enormously expensive infrastructure, about conserving our natural resources, and about dealing with ever-increasing traffic congestion, I urge you to join me in supporting Egge for city commission this November.
