Alan Richard Kahn Alan Richard Kahn, 81, of Bozeman, Montana passed away Thursday, August 13, 2020. He was born May 10, 1939 in El Paso, Texas to Joshua N. and Frances (Levy) Kahn. Alan graduated from El Paso High School and attended University of Texas-El Paso. He received his bachelor's degree in Economics from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He married Jean Groesbeeck and they had three daughters, Julie, Cyndee, and Jill. He enjoyed his work as CPA for Kahn & Company, CFO for Leavell Construction, a finance consultant, owner of Dickshire Coors in El Paso, and served as Trustee to various bankruptcy trusts to resolve asbestos claims. He served as President for the El Paso Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Texas Department of Commerce. He has a long history of community service in both Texas and Montana. He assisted with many local and national fundraisers for multiple political races and candidates. He was a tremendous supporter of the Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship both financially and through his wisdom and time. He joined the college's Board of Advisors in 2004 and has been an valued advisor to every dean of the college for many years. In addition, Alan was a strong supporter of the WWAMI program and MSU Athletics, among many others. Alan was known to be calm, insightful and extremely intelligent voice of reason. Along with his love of politics and community service, Alan enjoyed the outdoors, particularly golfing and bird hunting. Alan was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike Kahn. Survivors include his wife, Jean G. Kahn; daughters, Julie (Allen) Burrows, Cyndee (Cliff) Hadley, and Jill (Larry) Hance; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister, Sandi Kahn Carpenter. Private family services will be held.
