A semi-truck hit and killed a man on Interstate 90 near Belgrade on Wednesday afternoon.

Montana Highway Patrol Sgt. Daniel Amundson said the man was hit while walking on the road near the Airway Boulevard exit. MHP’s website indicated the incident was fatal.

Westbound traffic on I-90 was backed up to about a mile west of Bozeman as cars were diverted at the airport exit as of about 5 p.m. Eastbound traffic was reduced to one lane.

The Central Valley Fire Department, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and the Gallatin County Coroner responded.
