Bozeman Health west end clinic

Bozeman Health plans to begin construction on a 63,000-square-foot clinic on Bozeman’s west end in late summer, pending city approval.

Pending city approval, Bozeman Health will begin construction on a $20 million clinic on the west side of town late this summer.

The yet-to-be-named clinic will be located on Huffine Lane and Cottonwood Road, offering primary care services that include family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics, said Bozeman Health spokesperson Lauren Brendel.

The clinic will also offer specialty services, including a gastroenterologist, she said. Bozeman Health is working on finalizing other services. Brendel said the clinic will accept most forms of insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Bozeman Health was motivated to open the clinic in response to the tremendous amount of growth happening on the city’s west side, Brendel said.

“John Hill, our president and CEO, and our board of directors have recognized the level of growth Bozeman has had, especially in the west Bozeman area,” she said. “One of our core tenets is the people in our area, the people we’re serving, are able to get care close to home.”

It makes sense to offer more services on the west end of town, she said, rather than require patients to drive all the way to Bozeman Health Deaconess or somewhere else.

Last November, Billings Clinic announced plans to expand and open a 94,000-square-foot clinic with similar offerings in Bozeman on East Valley Center Road and North 27th Avenue. Bozeman Health isn’t worried about competition, though, said Chief Advancement Officer Jason Smith.

“In a thriving and growing community like Bozeman and Southwest Montana, we’re not worried about additional actors in the healthcare space,” he said. “We’re motivated by a desire to bring high-quality care closer to home.”

Bozeman Health is “optimistic” about receiving approval from the city in early July, Smith said. Should all go to plan, he anticipates construction will begin in late summer, and he estimates the it will will open in latter half of 2020.

Renderings depict a three-story, 63,000-square-foot building, with a beige, gray and black color scheme. An ambulatory surgery center will be on the first floor, specialty services on the second and primary care on the third floor, Brendel said.

Bozeman Health will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the clinic on the southwest corner of Huffine and Cottonwood on July 19 at 4 p.m.
