Bozeman police are still looking for a man who sexually assaulted a woman as she was walking early Saturday morning on North Ferguson Avenue near Babcock Street.

Bozeman Detective Sgt. Joseph Swanson said the incident appears to be random and that police are still trying to identify the assailant. Swanson said he was looking for any video of foot traffic and asked people who live in the area of the assault to review security cameras between midnight and 2 a.m., Saturday.

At about 12:45 a.m., a woman reported a man physically restrained her as she was walking on North Ferguson Avenue, according to a Bozeman police news release. The alleged suspect was last seen running down Babcock Street in an unknown direction.

The suspect was described as being about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short, dark hair and wearing an oversized, dark-colored jacket. He was wearing light-colored pants and athletic shoes.

Swanson said that’s the only description police have of the man.

Anyone with information can call Swanson at 406-582-2951, email jswanson@bozeman.net or call Crimsestoppers at 406-586-1131.

People with information that helps solve the crime may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward, police said.
