A Bozeman man was sentenced Thursday to 41 months in prison after he admitted he viewed and downloaded child porn “for years.”

Bruce Alan Gagne, 59, is required to forfeit his computer and USB storage devices seized in the case. Upon his release, Gagne will be on probation for 10 years.

He appeared in Missoula federal court before U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy.

Gagne pleaded guilty to possession of child porn in June.

In May 2018, the Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office received Gagne’s USB storage device with suspected images of child porn, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

A detective found images of children engaged in sexually explicit activity on the USB device, the news release said. Bozeman police later found images and videos of child porn, including of prepubescent children, on Gagne’s laptop and a USB device seized from his home.

The news release said Gagne admitted to officers that he had viewed and downloaded child porn “for years.”
