Charles Franklin Corey pleads not guilty to a felony sex crime in Gallatin County District Court on Wednesday.

A Belgrade man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that accuse him of sexually assaulting a minor.

Charles Franklin Corey, 46, is charged with a felony sex crime. Corey appeared in Gallatin County District Court before Judge John Brown.

Corey has been held at the Gallatin County jail on $50,000 bail since Sept. 24.

In September, an employee with Child Protective Services reported the sexual assault, according to charging documents. The girl was interviewed later that day.

The girl told police that Corey asked her to take her shirt off after he gave her Nyquil for a cough, according to charging documents.

The girl said that Corey then sexually assaulted her, police said in charging documents. She said Corey grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth to keep her from calling for help after she tried running away.

Belgrade detectives brought Corey into the Belgrade Police Department to question him. During the interview, police said, Corey denied sexually assaulting the girl.
