A Big Sky man who tried to bail his wife out of jail after her arrest for DUI was also arrested for DUI after going to the jail drunk, deputies say.

Rick J. Fancher, 62, was arrested early Friday morning and charged with his third DUI.

According to charging documents:

On Thursday night, Stacey Jo Fancher, 44, was pulled over on Two Moons Road after she failed to dim her lights as she passed a Gallatin County sheriff’s deputy.

Stacey Fancher, who was driving the vehicle with Rick Fancher in the passenger seat, provided a preliminary breath sample of 0.201. She was arrested and cited for aggravated DUI.

About three hours later, Gallatin County jail staff reported at 3:30 a.m. that Rick Fancher had just left the jail after attempting to post bond for Stacey Fancher.

Rick Fancher provided a breath sample to jail staff that showed his blood alcohol level was 0.178. He then drove away from the jail in a Toyota truck.

The same deputy who arrested Stacey Fancher pulled Rick Fancher over on West Babcock Street near the intersection with Eighth Avenue. The deputy recognized Rick Fancher from his wife’s arrest.

Rick Fancher admitted that he had nine beers and three or four shots of bourbon in the two hours prior to his wife’s arrest.

A breath sample taken by the deputy put Rick Fancher’s blood alcohol level at 0.159. He was arrested and held on $1,085 bond.

The couple posted bail and were released from jail at 9 a.m. Friday.
