Sears Closing

Sears at the Gallatin Valley Mall announced Thursday that it will be closing.

Livingston’s Katabatic Brewery has changed ownership, but is still Katabatic. According to a news release from the brewery, co-owners Brice and LaNette Jones sold the brewery to Shawn Markman, who has been a home brewer for years.

“Owning and operating a brewery has been my dream for a while,” Markman said in the release. “Having gotten to know Brice and LaNette over the last couple years, I am genuinely honored that they are entrusting me with the business they started.”

Sears in the Gallatin Valley Mall is closing its doors and liquidating its inventory.

Messages to the store went unanswered on Thursday and Friday, but the store took out an advertisement in the Chronicle this week announcing a closing sale and the Sears website redirects a search for the Bozeman store to a page that says it has closed. A Facebook post from the local store on Dec. 13 confirms the closure.

A new restaurant will open in downtown Bozeman in early February. Red Sugar Dim Sum will serve Chinese breakfast, lunch and dinner, and manager Angel Chen said it’s all going to be homemade, homestyle food. The restaurant will be next to Cactus Records on West Main.

Speaking of downtown, local company Dee-o-Gee will expand out of Montana for the first time ever in 2020. The company has five locations across the state and will open its first out-of-state shop in Longmont, Colorado.
