Big Sky Resort has announced plans to add 250 new parking spaces.

“We’ve grown over the years and this is just one aspect that we are improving upon next year to manage that additional growth,” said Stacie Mesuda, a spokesperson for the resort.

Big Sky plans to have the parking spaces complete for the 2019-2020 ski season, located in the Mountain Village, east and downhill from the existing lot.

This year’s lot expansion is the first phase in a long-term plan to add more than 500 new parking spaces to the resort, according to a news release. Mesuda said a date for adding the remaining parking spaces has not been set.

To accommodate the parking lot expansion, Mesuda said Big Sky will also increase its shuttle capacity by 50 percent. She said it should make visitors’ experience at the resort more convenient.

“The shuttle capacity increase allows people to have a seamless ski day from the moment they get to the parking lot and straight to the slopes,” she said.
