Stephanie Pressly

Stephanie Pressly joined the Chronicle as publisher and president of Big Sky Publishing in 2007. She has worked in newspapers for more than 25 years, publishing papers in Idaho, Arizona, Alabama and her hometown of La Jolla, Calif.

Nick Ehli
Managing Editor

Nick Ehli is the Chronicle's managing editor. Born and raised in Billings, Ehli is a graduate of the University of Montana School of Journalism and has worked for Montana newspapers as a reporter, columnist and editor for nearly 30 years.

Brant Horn
Circulation Director

Brant Horn came to the Chronicle in June, 2015. Prior to his work in Bozeman, he served as the Circulation Director for the Daily Inter Lake in Kalispell for the previous 14 years. Before that, he held multiple circulation management positions at the Great Falls Tribune.

Cindy Sease
Advertising Director

Cindy Sease joined the Chronicle in February, 2013. She came from the Daily Interlake in Kalispell where she served as Advertising Director for 12 years. Prior to that she held several advertising management positions at the Sioux City (IA) Journal and at her hometown paper, the Boulder (CO) Daily Camera.


Michael Becker
City and Online Editor

Michael Becker is the City Editor of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle. He has been a professional journalist, editor and writing teacher since 2005. Somewhere along the way, he also learned to build websites.

Whitney Bermes
Cops and Courts Reporter

Whitney Bermes was born and raised in Missoula. She graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in print journalism in 2009. She joined the Chronicle staff in 2012 after working at the Ravalli Republic in Hamilton.

Troy Carter
Politics and County Government Reporter

Troy Carter is a Montana native who joined the Chronicle’s staff in 2014. From 2001 to 2006, he served as infantryman in the 10th Mountain Division, including combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Troy received a master’s degree in political science from the American University of Beirut and a bachelor’s degree in the same field from the American University in Cairo.

Eric Dietrich
City Government Reporter

Eric Dietrich, originally from Portland, Oregon, joined the Chronicle staff in 2014. He graduated from Montana State University with a bachelor's in environmental engineering and previously worked for the MSU Exponent student newspaper and Great Falls Tribune.

Rachel Hergett
Get Out! Editor

Rachel Hergett grew up in Bozeman and studied communications at Richmond University in London. She graduated with honors from MSU and worked as an editor at the Livingston Enterprise before joining the Chronicle in 2008.

Lewis Kendall
Business Reporter

A Durham, North Carolina native, Lewis joined the Chronicle in 2015. He received a degree from Ithaca College and previously worked with the News and Observer in North Carolina. He is also the editor of the Business Journal.

Chris Kerr

Chris Kerr has won numerous awards for newspage design during his 10 years at the Chronicle. Along with nightly layout and production duties for the daily paper, he has been editor of Carve ski magazine since 2002.

Ted Sullivan
Assistant Managing Editor

Ted Sullivan graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelor's degree in journalism and sociology. He has won state and regional awards in Montana and Wisconsin for crime and investigative reporting.

Ben Pierce
Outdoors Editor

Ben Pierce spent most of his childhood biking, fishing and exploring the woods around his family's dairy farm in central Massachusetts. He moved to Bozeman in 1996 to pursue those passions.

Gail Schontzler
Education Reporter

Reporter Gail Schontzler has worked for the Bozeman Daily Chronicle since 1983. She has a master's degree in journalism from UC Berkeley, and has won several state and regional awards for reporting on subjects ranging from abortion to MSU.

Michael Wright
Environment Reporter

Michael Wright left a dairy farm in southern Idaho to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana School of Journalism. He spent the spring of 2015 covering the Montana Legislature for a network of newspapers around the state. His work has also appeared in the Big Timber Pioneer, Montana Kaimin and Montana Journalism Review. He joined the Chronicle in May 2015.

Mike Yawitz
Wire Editor

Michael Yawitz, a graduate of the University of Colorado journalism school, served as Chronicle sports editor for 20 years before joining the wire/copy edit desk in 1994.


Jon Maletz
Sports Editor

Jon Maletz is the sports editor of the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.

Michael Appelgate
Sports Reporter

Michael is a Seattle native. Before joining the Chronicle, he was assistant sports editor for the Holland Sentinel in Holland, Michigan. He also worked for the Aspen Times and the Salt Lake Tribune.

Parker Gabriel
Sports Reporter

Parker Gabriel has been a sports writer for the Chronicle since November 2014. He is a Wisconsin native and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in journalism and political science in 2012. Before the Chronicle, he worked for the state of Wisconsin and contributed basketball and football coverage to Bucky's 5th Quarter, the SB Nation site that covers the Badgers.
