Obituaries

The Chronicle charges $12 per column inch (estimated 30 words per inch) for obituaries.

Email obituaries to peoplenews@dailychronicle.com. Sending the obituary in the text of the email message works best, or a MS Word (.doc) attachment.

Photos may be included. They're usually run about a half-column wide. Photos generally add $12 or $13 (or roughly an inch of length) to the total cost of the obituary.

Please send either the original photo or an electronic (.jpg) version of the original. The photo file should have a resolution of at least 200 dpi or be of a fairly large size (e.g. 3x3 inches). Electronic photos should be sent as attachments to the email.

For payment, the best arrangement is to call Amanda Kunz in the Chronicle business office at 406-587-4491. She will secure that information and then charge your card after the obit is printed.

The Chronicle also prints free death notices. These are limited to the person's name, age, date and place of death, service and memorials. No survivors are listed.

The daily deadline for obituaries is 3:30 p.m. for the next day's paper.
