Guest Column: Thanks to Baucus for protecting Montana's rivers

K.C. Walsh

K.C. Walsh is the president of Simms Fishing Products and a resident of Bozeman.

In this season of gratitude, I am reminded of why I am grateful to run my business out of Montana. Twenty years ago, I bought a small company called Simms Fishing Products and consolidated our operations in Bozeman. I am proud that Simms now employs more than 130 people at our flagship facility in Four Corners, a stone's throw from the blue-ribbon trout water of the Gallatin River.

The legendary rivers that flow through our state are a heritage we all share and enjoy. Our magnificent rivers also drive whole segments of our Montana economy. Sen. Max Baucus graciously recognized that Simms “truly is an economic engine for our state. It also shares Montana’s outdoor heritage with the world by selling the kinds of products that remind folks everywhere that Montana is a great place to do business, live, work and enjoy our rivers and lakes.”
