When does racism become genocide? America indeed has a racist past. We have perpetrated untold horrors against a group of people simply because of skin color. Granted, we have made great strides towards eradicating the overt racism and physical violence against blacks, but there is a quiet genocide that continues even to this day.

What better way to destroy an entire race than to chip at its foundation? Less than 40 percent of black men receive a diploma. Where the mayor is black, the school superintendent is black, the principal is black, and even where the teachers are black, this still holds true. It's even true in places where school funding is among the highest in the nation, like Washington, D.C.

Blacks account for nearly 70 percent of prison populations. Statistics show that their victims are mostly other blacks. In fact, recent studies show that in nearly 80 percent of violent crimes against blacks, both the victim and the criminal were black. Many blacks live in desperate conditions, economic plantations created by and maintained by government.

And is it a coincidence that while blacks are only 13 percent of the population, more than 36 percent of aborted babies are black? A whopping 43 percent of all black pregnancies end in abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute. In the state of Georgia it's even more astounding. The Guttmacher Institute reports that almost 58 of black pregnancies there are aborted.

Almost all abortion clinics are located in metropolitan areas, particularly poor neighborhoods. Even more macabre, in Atlanta, all 14 abortion clinics are located in minority neighborhoods.

Need more proof? Black women are more likely to die of cervical cancer than any other group. The AIDS epidemic has hit blacks the hardest, with nearly 50 percent of cases. The leading cause of death for young black women is AIDS, and it is the second leading cause of death for young black men.

Still not convinced? In 1960, before the era of civil rights, only 28 percent of young black women were unmarried. Today it's more than half. In 1940, only 19 percent of black babies were illegitimate. Today, it's nearly 70 percent. More than 100 years ago in Philadelphia, 75 percent of black families were comprised of two parents and children. In New York City in 1925, 85 percent of black households had two parents.

One might suggest that the black condition is a result of the continuing effects of slavery and discrimination, but why were black families in so much better shape at a time of much greater discrimination? Could the damage be any worse if it was intentionally inflicted? One might be rightfully suspicious of a coincidence of this magnitude.

In a letter to Dr. Clarence Gamble in 1939, Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood, wrote this:

"We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don't want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members."

Hmmm. Maybe it is deliberate.

Please, freethinker, you are too generous. This is BADLY written, just as a piece of English composition. Convinced of what? Need more proof of what? It's all daisychained statistics and smirking innuendo. But worse, it now exhorts blacks to feel like exploited victims based on an historically absurd conspiracy theory. And all they have to do is buy the "Jesus Akhbar" philosophy of Rich Sherlock. Let's get this straight. Where does fundamental Christianity have it's deepest and original roots... The SOUTH! What, beyond the Confederate flag and mint juleps is iconically linked to the SOUTH? Bible thumping, populist, born again Christian zealotry!. Where's the wellspring of racism in America, historically and currently? The SOUTH! This is the ultimate spin.. a radical interpretation of Jesus which has historically been most culpable in racism now wants to forget all that and cast the entire other spectrum of non-Evangelical whites who worked hardest over the years to support black aspirations as the actual evil doers who are out to wipe out the black race. This is beyond tinfoil helmet stuff. This, IMHO, is evidence that Rich Sherlock is channeling the Devil himself. It's just got diabolical written all over it.
There are blacks who have drunk the Jesus Akhbar kool-aid and they will ever be the pawns of White Evangelicals. Fortunately, most people of ALL colors are way to rational to buy this twisted vision.

And Rich... how about a column with ONE original thought. You're just regurgitating, nearly word for word, the internet sites that espouse this garbage.

Mr. Sherlock has done a job of itemizing results, but the article is totally devoid of reasons for the results, other than implying some sort of racism. The 'Why' requires a lot more definition. Did the blacks in prison commit crimes? Is it not a crime if a black commits a crime against other blacks? Is Atlanta almost entirely black within the city limits? Do non-black communities have abortion clinics? Surely black children can get a quality education if the administrators and teachers happen to be black. Is there another reason why it is not the norm, if, in fact, it isn't? Is the black population increasing? If so, that makes extermination a hard argument. Perhaps a more honest dissertation is in order.
