Bison vaccination project near West Yellowstone postponed

Bison roam in a field near the Northern Entrance in Yellowstone National Park on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Recent news was mixed for bison as Yellowstone National Park rejected remote vaccination of bison as the Board of Livestock disapproved expanded range west of the park.

The Montana Department of Livestock will postpone its winter plans to vaccinate bison while it prepares an environmental assessment.

At a Monday meeting, the Board of Livestock voted to reassess the feasibility and effectiveness of a plan to vaccinate bison that wander west of Yellowstone National Park.
