The Montana Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in identifying a driver who struck a Bozeman bicyclist early Wednesday morning, seriously injuring the man.

Kevin Colter Kline, 25, was traveling south on Cottonwood Road about 1 a.m. when a driver struck him from the rear. The driver left the scene, leaving Kline seriously injured on the road. The accident happened near 8384 Cottonwood Road, south of Patterson Road.

MHP Trooper Brandon Uhl said Kline was able to call his friends, even though he wasn’t sure of his exact location. His friends followed the route he would usually take home to find him.

Kline was listed in critical condition at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital on Wednesday and was scheduled to be flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City, said Bozeman Deaconess spokeswoman Connie Martin.

Investigators are looking for a 1987-1991 Ford F150, F250, F350, F450 or the same year full-sized Ford Bronco.

If you have any information about the vehicle, contact the Montana Highway Patrol at 1-800-525-5555 or 587-4525.
