The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Postal Service are looking for those responsible for damaging mailboxes along Durston Road this week in an apparent attempt to steal mail.

The damage happened sometime on the morning of Feb. 11 at Sage Bloom Court. The sheriff's office did not say whether any mail was actually stolen.

Anyone with information about the crime or anyone missing packages or mail should call the sheriff's office at 582-2100, ext. 2.

The sheriff's office and postal service are warning the public of the possibility of identity theft in case any bank account information, pay stubs, checks or tax documents were stolen. People should check for unauthorized charges or unlawful tax returns filed in their names and report suspicious activity immediately.
