Humanities Montana is offering grants and programs to recognize the 150th anniversary of Montana Territory in 2014.

The nonprofit will sponsor 15 of its speaker programs, focusing on Montana from 1864 to 1889. The programs are free to schools and $50 for other organizations. Applicants can request up to three speakers per year.

Humanities Montana is also offering grants to help pay for exhibits, conferences, book festivals, historical reenactments and other events focused on Montana's 150th anniversary.

The Missoula-based Humanities Montana is the state's affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. It was founded in 1972.
