LIVINGSTON - After a two-year absence, the Sustainability Fair is returning to Livingston.
The fair will be held Wednesday, July 28, from 2 to 8 p.m., at the Livingston Farmers' Market in Sacajawea Park, along the Yellowstone River.
"The fair moved to Billings last year to reach a new audience," Lill Erickson, executive director of the Western Sustainability Exchange, said in a prepared statement. "But popular demand has brought it back to Livingston."
The renamed Sustainability Fair Day will feature businesses that provide goods and services for implementing "green" practices. Little Jane and the Pistol Whips will serenade fairgoers. Admission is free.
A recent poll showed that "even in a slow economy, sustainability matters to a large majority of Americans," Erickson said. "That's because living sustainably saves money, helps the environment and makes communities stronger and healthier."
With that in mind, the fair's organizers seek to both "increase consumer awareness about the economic and environmental benefits of sustainable living," and provide the information and tools people need "to make sustainability a part of their daily lives," Erickson said
The nonprofit Western Sustainability Exchange operates the farmers' market each Wednesday during the summer. Wrapping the fair together with the farmers' market "also gives us the opportunity to highlight the sustainable practices of many of our regular Farmers Market vendors," Erickson said.
