Officials on Friday identified the man who was killed in a snowmobile crash northwest of Cooke City this week.

According to the Park County Sheriff’s Office, 48-year-old Brian MacPherson of Martensville, Saskatchewan, died near Abundance Flat shortly after noon on Thursday.

Officials said MacPherson tried to jump a creek and crashed. A Park County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team member arrived within minutes of the crash. However, MacPherson was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to revive him failed.
