Select an ending date with a calendar

If you know within a week or two when the story you are looking for appeared, and keyword searches are not working for you, then an effective search method is to just use the date search above. Click on the little calendar images to select the dates, or type the dates directly, in the format of month-day-year eg. 1-6-2003 and then click on "Date Only Search" button. Use the date search to bring up all the stories for those days and then scan thru the results to locate the headline of the story you seek.

If you have searched our online archives and still do not locate the article you are looking for, then try using the MSU Library's Bozeman Newspaper Index to find when exactly the article was published. Then if the article was published after June of 1996, return to this website and using the date search get all of the articles for that specific day. Then scan through the resulting headlines to find the article. If upon scanning through the headlines you do not locate the article, then you will know for certain it is not available in our archives or at the Chronicle. If you have gone through the above steps and did not find the article you may still be in luck: If you do have the date of the article you can go to or call the Bozeman Public Library at 406-582-2400, which has the Chronicle available on Microfilm all the way back to 1891. They have a microfilm reader/printer there, and do offer limited assistance for out of town person's trying to get a copy of an article.
