A Seattle man was sentenced Friday to a year and one month in federal prison and three years probation after pleading guilty to distributing cocaine in Bozeman, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Geoffrey H. Dodd, 28, appeared Friday before U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy in Missoula.
According to the statement, a detective with the Missouri River Drug Task Force intercepted a package at the Greyhound bus station in Bozeman containing 246 grams of marijuana on Oct. 10, 2006, after receiving a tip from law enforcement agents in Billings.
The detective seized the marijuana and delivered it to its intended recipient in Bozeman. The recipient was arrested and told authorities that he regularly distributed marijuana for Dodd, according to prosecutors.
Using the man as a confidential informant, authorities arranged to buy cocaine from Dodd.
Subsequently, Dodd delivered 28.5 grams of cocaine to the informant at a Bozeman gas station on Nov. 29, 2006, according to the statement. Dodd received $700 for that sale. He later sent the informant 113.9 grams of cocaine at a Bozeman post office box and received $3,800 for that sale.
