Temporary personnel changes on Gallatin National Forest
The Gallatin National Forest will have a few temporary personnel changes this spring.
Big Timber District Ranger Bill Avey is scheduled to spend two months on the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico as the acting deputy forest supervisor.
'"I'm humbled to be asked to assist the Lincoln Forest during an intense fire season," Avey said in a press release. "Hopefully, I'll be able to provide some assistance with fire management activities and other forest priority work during my two months down there.
“It's an honor to be given a chance to help out this forest that provided so much help to us here in Montana during the past several bad fire seasons," he said.
Bozeman District Ranger Jose Castro will also be moving to New Mexico to spend two months as acting deputy forest supervisor on the Santa Fe National Forest. His job will include administrative work and “forestwide priority work,” according to a press release from the Gallatin.
"My detail to the 1.6 million-acre Santa Fe National Forest will be both exciting and challenging" Castro said in the release. “I look forward to working in culturally rich northern New Mexico and eating great Mexican food."
While Avey and Castro are away, Marna Daley, the Gallatin’s public affairs officer, will serve as the acting ranger for the Big Timber district and Fred Haas, the Gallatin’s land forester, will be acting ranger for the Bozeman district.
