Around Montana: Carlson is top finisher for BSF
ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Ase Carlson was the top finisher for the Bridger Ski Foundation on Friday in the 10K classic race at the Nordic Junior Olympics, placing fifth.
Carlson finished the race in 31:09.7.
In the girls J2 5K classic race, Katie Gill took sixth with a time of 15:59.1.
Tanner Wiegand (14:15.9) finished in 12th in the boys J2 group.
“Not a good day for BSF today,” said Dragan Danevski, the Nordic director for Bridger Ski Foundation, “We had high expectations.”
However, without a podium finish for BSF racers, the day’s results were not as exciting as Wednesday’s freestyle race results.
Racing concludes for the week today with the freestyle relay event.
“I am hoping they are a little more confident after Wednesday’s races,” Danevski said, looking forward to another freestyle event.
MSU’s Ryan Scott, skiing with the Boulder Junior Nordic Race club, improved on his finish from Wednesday, taking 31st in the classic event.
