NYC dancer teaches "The Magic of Fairy Dance"

Youth Arts in Action, in cooperation with Professional Children's School New York City, brings New York trained ballet dancer Nadia Khan to Bozeman. "The Magic of Fairy Dance" is a series of children's dance classes that Miss Khan will teach on Wednesdays from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., March through April.

Youth Arts in Action is a Bozeman-based non-profit that awards scholarships to outstanding young artists. The Professional Children's School in New York City provides a college preparatory education to students who are already pursuing careers in the performing arts, such as talented actors, dancers and musicians. Former alumni include actress Scarlet Johannson, cellist Yo-Yo Ma and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Ethan Stiefel.

Khan, age 16, attends Professional Children's School on scholarship and is training pre-professionally in classical ballet in New York with Prima Ballerina Assoluta Eva Evdokimova. Khan's previous training includes, The Kirov Academy, Washington, D.C.; The Royal Ballet School, London; The Princess Grace Academy, Monaco; and was recently selected to attend, by invitation only, the English National Ballet School, London.

The Tiger Woods Foundation awarded Khan her second $5,000 dance scholarship to pursue pre-professional ballet training with Evdokimova and create original choreography.

"The Story of Little Babaji", an original children's story ballet, will premier in 2008, featuring the choreography, sets and costumes designed by Khan and other talented young artists sponsored by Youth Arts in Action. One of the goals of Youth Arts in Action is to encourage young artists to give back the gift of their talents to Montana communities.
